How can I skip the lines at the Colosseum?

You can do that by booking a Colosseum skip-the-line ticket. That way, you’ll avoid standing in a massive entry line under that scorching sun and enter the Colosseum immediately. If you’re visiting the Colosseum after 10 AM in the summer without a skip-the-line ticket, be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour just to get through the gates!

How strict are the entry times on the tickets?

Very strict. Colosseum tickets will have a reserved time slot, and those who miss it won't be allowed in. It is recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled time to find the correct line and prepare for the security check.

How much time do I need to explore the Colosseum?

It is recommended to set aside 1.5 to 2 hours just for the Colosseum visit. If you purchase a ticket that includes access to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, reserve a good half-day for the exploration.

Can I explore the Colosseum Underground on my own?

Unfortunately, no. The Colosseum Underground is a highly restricted area. You can only step beneath the Arena floor by booking a specific Colosseum Underground Tour. That way, you’ll also get access to all areas of the Colosseum.

Can I bring a bag and luggage to the Colosseum?

You can enter the Colosseum with a small bag that can’t exceed the dimensions of 30x40x15 cm. Large bags, backpacks, and suitcases are not allowed. The main entrance doesn't have steps, and disabled people can easily enter. Visitors in wheelchairs can access the ground floor and the middle tier by taking the elevator, which has space for two wheelchairs at a time.

Are there toilet facilities at the Colosseum?

Yes! The main restrooms are located inside the Colosseum on the first tier, just a short distance from the entrance. There are 14 stalls, along with an added restroom for visitors with mobility issues and a baby changing station.

Can I visit the Colosseum with small children?

The Colosseum is accessible for baby strollers and offers two specially designed rooms for children's use, equipped with changing and breastfeeding facilities.

Can I bring food and drinks to the Colosseum?

Food and drinks are not allowed inside the Colosseum, but you can refill plastic water bottles at the water fountains inside. There are no restaurants or other food outlets at the Colosseum, but plenty of restaurants and cafes are nearby, so it is advised that you eat before or after your visit.
