The Virtual Reality Tour of the Colosseum was very fun! You get to see a reconstruction of the arena and lots of information on its history. I liked that it was like a game. I had never used a VR headset before, but it was really easy, and a staff member explained everything before the tour started. It was so cool to see gladiators fighting right in front of us, just like in ancient Roman times. This tour was definitely worth it!

Did Emperors Ever Fight in the Colosseum?
Did you know that Roman emperors were also gladiators? Well, sort of. Emperor Commodus competed in the arena. According to sources, he went insane and was often dressed as Mercury and used a bow and arrow. Rumors circulated in Rome that he was the illegitimate son of a gladiator. He made hundreds of appearances in the arena, but, of course, he was the emperor, so he wasn’t really in danger and usually just shot wild animals like lions from a platform. During his time as emperor in the 2nd century AD, he even gave Rome a new name, the Colony of Commodus, which didn’t really catch on.
